Description from the seller
Extremely Rare and Fascinating Piece of Collecting History: a Dunhill Rollagas lighter, in the highly sought-after "Bordeaux Gold Dust" finish (Bordeaux Chinese lacquer with embedded gold dust/particles) and gold-plated details. The iconic Rollagas model was originally designed by Conrad Zellweger and introduced by Dunhill in the 1950s as a symbol of absolute refinement and Swiss engineering (La Nationale). The side-roller ignition system and the famous snap-lid closure with a "click" represent one of the most famous and imitated patents in the world.
The lacquered variant was introduced by Dunhill starting in 1972, combining mechanical precision with the ancient art of lacquering. This 1970s specimen showcases a warm burgundy hue embellished with a striking "gold dust" effect, featuring a unique three-dimensional texture under light.
Technical Details:
• Manufacturer: Alfred Dunhill (Swiss Made)
• Model: Rollagas
• Period: 1970s
• Finish: Natural burgundy Chinese lacquer with gold flakes (Gold Dust) and gold-plated trims
• Dimensions: approx. 6.2 cm x 2.4 cm x 1.2 cm
• Hallmarks: Logo "Dunhill" engraved inside the lid and on the base, with the inscription "Swiss Made" and official assay mark.
Condition: The lighter presents itself in excellent vintage aesthetic condition, with rings and mechanisms all functioning. The lacquer is very well preserved, glossy and brilliant. High-resolution photographs are an integral part of the visual description. Just flint and gas, and the lighter is ready for use!
