Description from the seller

Guilloché or 'Engine Turned' pattern: The lids of these boxes are decorated with a very fine, mechanically engraved geometric pattern (often called engine turning). This was especially popular during the Art Deco period (the 1920s and 1930s) well into the 1950s and 60s in, among other places, England, Germany and the Netherlands.

Cartouche: The small, smooth rectangle on the lids (the cartouche) was meant to engrave the owner's initials or a date.

Inside: The interior is lined with cedar wood. This wood was originally used to regulate humidity, so cigars or tobacco would not dry out.

The stamp shows a running lion looking to the right with the number 2 underneath. This means
Massive Silver: made of solid silver with a fineness of 833/1000 (83.3% pure silver). This was the standard in the Netherlands for this type of large silver objects until the mid-20th century.
The object shows light signs of wear and scratches, which is typical for antique or vintage silverware.
Dimensions small box: height 4 cm, width 9 cm, depth 11 cm
