Original Pastel Artwork by M. Okkerse

EMERGENCE

A face emerges from darkness, revealing only fragments of its presence. Vivid reds, electric blues and warm golden tones collide against a deep black background, creating a powerful interplay of light, shadow and emotion.

The work is created on a curved panel, giving the surface a subtle sculptural quality. The curvature adds depth to the portrait and enhances the tension between the illuminated face and the surrounding darkness.

The single exposed eye draws the viewer into an intimate encounter, while the partially concealed features suggest vulnerability, strength and an unspoken inner world.

Part of the Between Shadows series, this expressive contemporary artwork explores identity, concealment and the delicate boundary between what is revealed and what remains hidden.
