Description from the seller
On the underside, numbered and signed
Pequi Tree Miniature is a sculpture created on the basis of Ai Weiwei's work Pequi Tree, 2018-2020, at a scale of 1:100.
The sculpture is an artist's edition, created exclusively in Serralves, Portugal.
It is limited to 250 copies, numbered and bearing Ai Weiwei's engraved signature.
Like the 32-meter-tall cast-iron sculpture Pequi Tree, this miniature tin reproduction testifies to the disappearance of the harmonious coexistence between nature and man, as it moves from wood to metal and from mortal to eternal, as a test object and as a monument.
Each piece was hand-cast, polished and finished, resulting in a semi-manual production process that makes it unique.
The project to create a miniature of the Pequi tree stems from the intention of the Serralves Foundation to celebrate the unprecedented presentation of the monumental work in its installations, combined with the artist's wish to support Serralves and its cultural activities, as well as to raise awareness of environmental issues, including deforestation.

The sculpture was only removed from its packaging for photographing.
