VINTAGE MONTBLANC SET 642 Y PEN (GERMANY, circa 1950s): We present at auction a magnificent and historic writing set from the prestigious Montblanc brand, dating from the 1950s.

The main piece is the coveted fountain pen model 642 (marked on the tail). This model belongs to the luxury range of its time and stands out for its beautifully platinum-plated cap in rolled gold with an exquisite guilloché geometric pattern. The body is turned in deep black celluloid/resin. It features a fabulous original 14K solid gold nib (14C) with classic writing and is filled by the traditional piston system.

Accompanying it is its matching original fountain pen, a true mechanical jewel that uses the historical lever-operated system integrated into the clip, a design highly sought after by collectors of vintage instruments. The set is presented in a classic era case with a light satin interior.

Bodies and Caps: The celluloid is in good condition, without cracks. The gold caps retain a high level of shine and the guilloché pattern is very well preserved, showing light micro-scratches typical of age.

FLAW / PERSONALIZATION: As shown in the detail photos, the smooth edge of the fountain pen cap bears a personal engraving in cursive handwriting (initials/original owner’s surname).

Mechanisms: The fountain pen’s piston operates. The lever mechanism of the pen’s clip works correctly. (Expert note: Given these are vintage instruments from the 1950s, the pen may require lubrication of the internal cork/rubber seal for daily optimal use. The pen will require adapting a current refill, since originals from the era are discontinued or dry. They are delivered as-is to preserve originality).
