Folder No. 26 of The Print Subscribers Club, published in spring–summer 2012 by Benveniste Contemporary, Madrid. It gathers three original prints by Jarosław Fliciński (Gdańsk, 1963), pencil-signed and numbered 22/40, printed on hand-cut 225 g Zerkall-Bütten paper, 38 × 32 cm (14.96 × 12.60 inches), from polymer plates of 40 × 34 cm.

The edition was supervised by Dan Albert Benveniste, who printed the sheets in his Madrid workshop with Elena Alonso and Juan Cruz Ibáñez. The folder, bound in gray cloth by the Crisalva workshop, bears the artist’s signature stamped in silver on the cover and retains the edition colophon sheet, signed by Fliciński and Benveniste and numbered 22/40. Full edition: 40 numbered copies, 20 artist proofs (I/XX), III H/C, one BAT and one archive copy.

Fliciński studied architecture at Gdańsk University of Technology from 1982 to 1986 before earning a painting degree in 1991, and the draughtsman’s discipline is visible in these sheets: bundles of parallel lines of constant thickness that twist and cross until the eye supplies volume the paper lacks. The pointed form, where the right angle becomes a curve halfway along, is the strongest of the three. In the same year as the folder, Benveniste Contemporary dedicated Madrid a solo exhibition Yes, Indeed.

Condition: new. The sheets have not been framed or exhibited. The photographs have been color- and light-corrected from shots of this copy; the gallery image is a staging simulation and the frame is not included in the lot.

Sold by a private collector. Shipped in rigid flat packaging, tracked and insured.
