Project for Cobra magazine No. 5 - Unnumbered edition - Only a few copies - Luxusausgabe, Hannover 1950. Printed by A. Reiman, Amsterdam. Very good condition.
In this work, the painter establishes a few elements that constituted the language of his Cobra painting: the spiral, the flying fish, the surreal eye, the fish figures, the geology of a mountainous landscape. The lines recall children’s drawings. The fusion of the mineral and the living leaves room for several interpretations of the image. This language was born in the painter after his observation of the works of Miró and Paul Klee. There is something primitive in the motifs and already a love of distant cultures.
