INFORMATION : The so-called "156 etchings" series is the last etching by Picasso (then over 90 years old) produced between 1970 and 1972. These plates were exhibited at the Louise Leiris gallery, from January 24 to February 24, 1973, a few weeks before the artist's death, and the edition was completed in 1978 at the Crommelynck ateliers, faithful friends of Picasso. They bear the artist's signature stamp (Lugt 2026e).
