Capture a piece of postwar avant-garde history with this powerful original lithograph by Hans Hartung, a master of European Lyrical Abstraction and Art Informel.
This iconic work comes from the legendary Farandole suite published in 1970, showcasing the artist’s unparalleled mastery of graphic gesture and controlled spontaneity
In this striking black-and-white composition, Hartung splits the pictorial plane into two contrasting visual movements that generate a mesmerizing spatial tension:
Dominated by a dense vertical architecture of incised lines.
Broad, textured strokes cascade downwards alongside a strict grid of parallel beams, evoking structures of light or rapid, sweeping energy.
A brilliant kinetic contrast featuring a continuous, looping skein of fine white lines. These circular, energetic scribbles float against the pitch-black ground like cosmic energy fields or light painting caught in long exposure.
By utilizing grattage, scratching techniques, directly onto the plate alongside traditional lithography, Hartung achieves an extraordinary depth where light literally pierces out from the absolute darkness.
Hans Hartung is highly collected globally and represented in permanent collections like MoMA and the Centre Pompidou
Perfect for collectors of mid-century abstract prints or as a striking minimalist focal point for modern interiors.
