Description from the seller
David Law
Photographer Artist – Creator of contemporary images
Multidisciplinary visual artist, author and musician, David Law develops work centered on gaze, presence and the perception of image in urban space. He first became known through a series dedicated to storefront models, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave birth to an art book published in 2021. Later intrigued by the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he extends this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling, almost lifelike presence, questioning our relationship to illusion and projection.
New series – Walls of legends
This series pays homage to emblematic figures who have marked history, music, cinema and popular culture. Each portrait, reduced to essentials, captures in a few strong contrasts an identity immediately recognizable. Realized with contemporary digital tools and then transposed into an aesthetic of stencil, the works sit within the street art tradition, between spontaneity and mastery of gesture. Deep black and raw surfaces evoke direct intervention on the wall, while imperfections and textures reinforce their urban character. Between collective memory and visual expression, this series offers a timeless reading of icons that continue to inhabit our imagination.
Edition & Production
Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies + 4 artist’s proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The prints are produced on aluminum with integrated back-mounting. Printing on luminous white vinyl, mounted between two aluminum plates, with soft UV- and humidity-resistant lamination, ensuring excellent durability, great longevity, color stability and a modern, contemporary look.
Parcours
Since 2014, David Law has participated in around twenty contemporary art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the designated photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. Alongside his visual work, he develops authorial work and music, including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a comic book, a photography book and 5 self-produced CDs. A singer-guitarist, he currently performs with the group FRENZY.
