Description from the seller

An important four-part work by Adorno Bonciani (Ponte a Ema, Florence, 1920), composed of four panels belonging to the narrative series “Storia di un violinista”.

The four works are kept together within a single large frame and constitute a complete sequence.

On the back of each panel there are the title, the artist's signature, and the original progressive numbering:

• n. 54 – “Storia di un violinista” – Part 1
• n. 55 – “Storia di un violinista” – Part 2, Matrimonio a S. Spirito
• n. 56 – “Storia di un violinista” – Part 3, Questua a S. Croce
• n. 57 – “Storia di un violinista” – Part 4

The subjects depict different moments in the violinist’s story set against some of Florence’s most famous monuments and historic sites.

Each panel moreover bears on the front the signature “Adorno Bonciani”.

The work is characterized by the artist’s typical figurative language, with strongly stylized figures, Florentine architectures, and a delicate palette interspersed with more intense colors.

Overall dimensions with frame: 64x150
Without frame: 134x49
Large decorative wooden frame with four individual internal openings.

On the back there are still the autograph inscriptions relating to the individual episodes, a particularly interesting element for documenting the narrative unity of the set.

The work shows signs of aging compatible with its age. The frame and supports show normal wear, as documented in detail in the photographs.

An interesting original group of four consecutive works, preserved and framed as a single composition.
