Description from the seller
RARE Stanwell “Pipe of the Year” 1982 – Original Danish Vintage Limited Edition with Silver Plaque – Condition
For sale: a piece of exceptional historical and collectible value—a genuine Stanwell “Pipe of the Year” pipe from 1982, entirely designed and manufactured in Denmark (the historic Borup factory). This is a unique and very distinctive model, highly sought after by enthusiasts for its finishes and its perfect preservation in original, never-restored condition.
Unique Features and Fine Details
* Sterling Silver Plaque: Set into the side of the shank is the original rectangular sterling silver plaque, beautifully engraved with the maker’s mark “Stanwell 1982,” a distinctive feature of the brand’s prestigious annual editions.
* Hallmark on the underside of the rim/shank: The underside of the briar bears a deep, crisp, perfectly legible engraving: “STANWELL - MADE IN DENMARK.” This marking confirms that it was made before production was moved abroad, considerably enhancing its commercial and historical value.
* Briar Finish: Beautiful dark, contrasting rusticated/sandblasted finish, with a highly tactile, pleasing texture, complemented by warm reddish grain at the bottom of the bowl, highlighting its uniqueness.
* Original Stem: Straight, made of high-quality ebonite/vulcanite, bearing the famous stamp of an “S” topped by a royal crown, the symbol of Stanwell excellence.
