Serena Grassetti’s *Becoming* is a unique, hand-signed original mixed-media artwork from 2026, measuring 45 × 60 cm.
Description from the seller
We are never a final form.
In Becoming, the face emerges and dissolves among pigments, traces and signs, like an identity in continual transformation.
The figure is not entirely defined: some parts rise to the surface, others sink into the matter. It is precisely in this unstable balance that the meaning of the work takes shape.
Color becomes emotion, matter becomes memory, the sign becomes the trace of an evolving existence.
Becoming explores change as an essential part of being human: what we let go, what we keep, and what we are slowly becoming.
The work belongs to Serena Grassetti’s new artistic exploration, dedicated to the exploration of identity, memory, and the invisible dimensions of the human experience.
Do not depict what appears, but give form to what is not seen.
Original unique work, handmade and signed by the artist.
* Shipping and presentation:
The work will be shipped without a frame, carefully rolled on a tube to ensure maximum safety during transport. It can be framed or mounted on a frame at the collector’s discretion.
* Original signed piece by the artist, accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.
This work is made on canvas without a frame and is shipped rolled to ensure maximum security during transport.
ATTENTION:
*The canvas is not treated with plaster or primer, so it is a raw and natural material.
*It should not be stretched excessively during framing to avoid alterations of the texture and the appearance of natural pigments.
*Do not use a canvas stretcher, as it could compromise the stability of the work.
*It is advisable to entrust installation to an expert framer for optimal mounting.
Created on a raw canvas that enhances the materiality of the work, this piece unites figurative art with the expressive gesture of abstract art, evoking emotion and introspection.
SERENA GRASSETTI — CONTEMPORARY ARTIST
Serena Grassetti is an Italian contemporary artist whose research investigates the complexity of the human being, exploring identity, memory, fragility, and inner transformation through a personal and multidisciplinary artistic language.
Daughter of artists, trained at the Istituto d’Arte of Macerata, she has developed over the years a deep knowledge of the material and its expressive possibilities, experimenting with painting, sculpture, modeling, resins, charcoal, and techniques related to Natural Art. This experience constitutes the foundation of a practice in which the material is not merely a support, but an integral part of the meaning of the work.
At the heart of her research lies the body understood as psychological and symbolic space: a presence capable of manifesting what words cannot express. Through incomplete figures, gestures charged with tension, and forms that oscillate between presence and dissolution, Grassetti gives visual substance to the deepest states of human experience.
Her work situates itself in the international dialogue of sculpture and contemporary figurative art, in thematic relation to the research of Rabarama, Berlinde De Bruyckere, and Xiang Jing, while the confrontation with Andy Warhol, Banksy, and KAWS opens a reflection on the different modalities through which contemporary art interprets identity and the human condition.
With works presented in exhibition contexts in Italy and abroad, Serena Grassetti develops a research aimed at surpassing superficial representation to reach a more intimate and universal dimension. Her poetics are founded on a essential principle: to give form to what is not seen, but which profoundly determines what we are.
