Description from the seller
For sale is a signed bronze sculpture by artist Konrad Kurz (1934–2023)
featuring two highly stylized figures on a shared base. The composition is sculptural and abstract in execution, with a dark brown patina that has developed naturally over time and greenish areas in places.
Inside the hollow base is the incised signature “K. Kurz München.” There is also a monogram on the outside of the base. The sculpture weighs approx. 1,540.5 g.
The piece is in good condition for its age, with natural patina and the usual minor surface marks. I have not restored or polished it.
The many photos show the sculpture, signature, monogram, and condition in detail and form part of the description.
Exceptional Bronze Sculpture – Konrad Kurz, Munich
Expressive Signed Sculpture – Modern Figurative Depiction – Impressive Patina
For sale is an expressive bronze sculpture by Munich sculptor Konrad Kurz (1934–2023).
The sculpture impresses with its powerful, pared-down visual language and the connection—characteristic of Kurz—between figurative depiction and abstract design. The two sculpted figures stand in a dynamic relationship with the massive, architectural-looking base. This clear, modern design gives the work a remarkable presence.
The bronze has a very beautiful, lively surface with a patina consistent with its age. Thanks to its compact form, it is ideal for display on a sideboard, desk, pedestal, or in a private art collection.

About the Artist
Konrad Kurz was part of Munich’s sculptural scene in the 20th and early 21st centuries. His artistic output consists primarily of sculptural works in bronze, often employing a deliberately pared-down and abstract visual language.
His works are held in both private collections and public spaces and are regularly offered on the art and auction market.
An Interesting Collector’s Piece
This work is intended for lovers of modern German sculpture, particularly collectors looking to discover high-quality artists from the Munich school of sculpture alongside better-known names.
The many detailed photos allow for a close assessment of the workmanship, surface, patina, and condition.
A distinctive bronze, ideal for collectors of modern German sculpture.
Expressive Signed Sculpture – Modern Figurative Depiction – Impressive Patina
For sale is an exceptionally designed, expressive sculpture featuring two abstracted human forms on a massive, organically designed base.
In its pared-down, elongated form, the larger figure recalls a stylized female form. Beside it is a smaller, ring-shaped abstract figure. The composition as a whole is defined by its deliberately irregular, handmade-looking surfaces, sculptural textures, and dark, distinctive patina.
The sculpture has a highly individual sculptural language and works equally well as a collector’s piece or as a statement artwork for a sophisticated interior.
Details:
* expressive abstract-figurative design
* two stylized figures on a massive base
* distinctive, handmade-looking surface texture
* dark, metallic-looking patina

Konrad Kurz (1934–2023) – German sculptor of the postwar modern era
Konrad Kurz is one of the notable German sculptors of the second half of the 20th century. Born in Passau, the artist developed an individual, unmistakable visual language that moves between figurative representation, abstraction, and an almost archaic modernity.
After his training and studies in sculpture in Munich, Kurz devoted his life wholly to art. From the 1970s onward, his works were presented in numerous solo and group exhibitions. In addition to exhibitions in Germany, his work was also shown internationally. His works can also be found in public spaces.
His bronze sculptures are particularly characteristic. In them, Kurz portrayed human figures, relationships, and emotional states in a pared-down yet highly expressive manner. His sculptures often have a powerful, almost archaic quality and are unmistakable for their distinctive handcrafted surfaces and individual patination.
Konrad Kurz’s works can today be found on the art and auction market and are valued by collectors, particularly for their distinctive visual language and characteristic bronze execution.
The work offered here bears the characteristic signature “K. Kurz – München” and fits stylistically into the artist’s sculptural oeuvre. An expressive work of German postwar modernism with a distinctive sculptural presence.
