Authentic black box or Flight Data Recorder from a Boeing 737, which was recently taken out of the fleet. The 'EFDARS Digital Flight Data Recorder' is manufactured by the Lockheed Aircraft Service Company (LAS) and Teledyne Controls, and is designed to withstand thousands of G's and extremely high temperatures.

The black box consists of two parts: the rear aluminium part where the interface electronics are, and the front part made of hardened steel with a centimetres thick layer of insulation. The front part keep the irreplaceable flight parameters safe.

The back part of the Data Recorder is stripped of all original electronics and these were replaced by a Zotac mini PC (ZBOX-ID17).
The front, protected part, is stripped of the original data storage and now houses a 32 GB solid state memory card (which can easily be expanded).

This results in a mini desktop PC or server with a unique and eye-catching look, and is a particularly safe backup.
