LEGO - Furniture 232 - 1970-1979
My father was presented with one of these rare Lego bricks for a suggestion for improvement in December 1971 with an award certificate from the Lego System management, Germany. I was told by a family friend that these bricks are very rare and valuable. This is your chance to acquire one of these rare golden Lego bricks.
History and data
This brick is 25.65 g of 14 ct gold (0.8246 troy oz). The brick is the same size and shape as the original 2x4 LEGO brick. This brick comes in its original display box which features the LEGO logo of the time. These reward bricks in silver and gold from the 1970s where bespoke items made by contracted jewellers for the Lego Company and given to Lego employees who did something outstanding for the company, such as opening a new market for Lego in Italy or setting up a distribution network in Germany.
Less than 10 of these golden bricks are known to exist, and only one has ever been on auction here before at Catawiki. The box containing the Golden Brick is made of plastic and is in good condition and a copy of the original thank you letter is included in the lot. It's a unique piece of Lego history.
