Divided into three large sections, purification, enlightenment and union, the work was an authentic monument to emblematic publishing applied to the salvation of the soul. Antique full leather binding. Small abrasions and flaws to one hinge, but intact and usable. Spine with raised bands. Gold title and friezes on the spine. Title page entirely engraved with allegorical figures of ancient scholars. Large papal coat of arms of Pope Urbano Barberini engraved on full page on the dedication. Illustrated by 46 fascinating and unique plates of emblems and allegories, the result of the flair and imagination of Dutch engraver Boetius van Bolswert. Size: 15x10 cm, pp. 32 nn. - 442 - 4 nn. - 1 c.b. An excellent copy.
