EARLY STATE BIBLE by Paulus Aertsz van Ravesteyn from 1649. Early editions of the States Bible, such as this one, did not yet have geographical maps. Not even this edition. In the marginal notes frequent use of 'JEHOVAH' or 'Jehovah' as a representation of the divine name.

DESCRIPTION: 3 parts in 1 volume, with 'Apocryphe Boecken'; folio (L: 38 cm; W: 25 cm; D: 9.5 cm). Engraved title print; [24], 288, 27, [3 (1 blank)], 138, [2], 166, [12]; [4], 76 folia. Later full leather binding (antique style); spine over 6 ribs, black title shield on spine, title marker in gold. Blind stamp on spine and boards. Gold stamping on short and long edge on front and back cover; blue marbled edge.

CONDITION: Title engraving restored and re-signed. A few lightly tanned pages, some small scratches on the leather of the covers. Otherwise perfect condition.

BUYING INFO: Although there were never any maps in this Bible, this is a complete, large States Bible.
