Gorgeous edition of Le Feu by Henri Barbusse, account of his life on the front during the First World War (Prix Goncourt 1916).
Admirably illustrated by Bethold Mahn with 34 lithographs in black printed by Mourlot, including 23 out of text.
Perfectly bound in two luxurious period red half shagreen bindings with corners, smooth spine adorned with gilded stamping, the set is in a bordered slipcase.
Good copy, despite the scattered foxing mainly in the margins and at the beginning of both volumes, copy in good condition.
Edition of 1,100 copies, this is one of the 1050 on Rives vellum.
