The book is dated, on the back of the cover, from 1938, Bagatelles having been printed and put on sale at the very end of 1937. This edition should have been printed in Paris, which the colophon would still suggest: "Imprimerie des Éditions Denoël, 19, rue Amélie, Paris". It was in fact put to press by the Imprimerie de France in Choisy-le-Roi (Fouché et Dauphin, 37A1).
