Very special "Berlage" lamppost lamp head from Scheveningen lamppost like in the photo. 

They have been designed around 1925 by Piet Zwart, over the period 1921-1927 first draughtsman employed by the famous Berlage. These are remarkably coloured (red / white) because Zwart actually wanted no further additions (tight posts with a lamp on it), but the municipality, which was the client, still wished some decorations.

Then Zwart decided to make all 'unnecessary' elements red . Despite the fact that Zwart has left such a strong mark on these lamps, the 4 different types of his hand are still referred to as "Berlage" lamps.
