This work is from the series Pseudologica (ref.  ‘Arnulf Rainer|Peter Fendi. Pseudologica’, Mazzotta, 1989, Milan)

In this series Arnulf Rainer used the lithographic copies of the watercolours made in c. 1820 by peter Fendi, representing erotic and sexual scenes, for his famous ‘übermalung’ over-drawing on the scenes.
Like a kind of censorship, his graphic sign seems to cover but at the same time underline the sexual elements of the scenes.
