Original silkscreen  by Helena Almeida, renowed Portuguese artist, known for her work in photography, performance art, body art, painting and drawing. 

Very rare.

Hand signed, numbered and dated by the artist in pencil.

The artist Helena de Almeida was born in 1934 in Lisbon and attended the "Escola Superior de Belas Artes de Lisboa". She belongs to a family of artists, daughter of the sculptor Leopoldo de Almeida, author of the statuary of the "Padrão dos Descobrimentos" monument in Lisbon.

The tendency to anthropomorphize his art results in the use of his own body as the object and subject of his painting. This artistic production belongs to a phase of his work, perhaps the best known, where photography is the main resource, with a very strong conceptualist character.

A major retrospective of her work, titled "My work is my body, my body is my work", was exhibited at the Museu de Serralves-Porto (2015), Paris (2016) and Brussels (2016). In 2018 he exhibited at the Tate Modern in London, which has around 40 works by this artist in its collection. 

Helena Almeida represented Portugal at the S. Paulo Biennale (1979), Venice Biennale (1982 and 2005) and Sydney Biennale (2004). Her work is represented in collections such as The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York, Tate Modern in London, Museo Nacional de Arte Reina Sofía in Madrid, Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, collections of the Berardo and Serralves museums.
