Een indrukwekkende en zeldzame grote schaal in Marmorite-glas, ontworpen door A.D. Copier voor Glasfabriek Leerdam, circa 1935–1940.

De schaal is uitgevoerd in de karakteristieke Marmorite-techniek, waarbij het glas wordt voorzien van een gemarmerd patroon met subtiele kleurvariaties en textuur, geïnspireerd op natuursteen. Deze techniek werd in de jaren 30 slechts gedurende korte tijd toegepast, wat objecten als deze schaars én gewild maakt.

Met zijn royale formaat en ingetogen, modernistische vormgeving is deze schaal een uitstekend voorbeeld van Copiers streven naar sober design en ambachtelijke perfectie binnen het gedachtegoed van de Nieuwe Zakelijkheid. Het object is niet alleen functioneel, maar ook een krachtig stilistisch statement binnen het vroege Nederlandse industriële design.
