King for a Decade Jean Michel Basquiat" is a collection of works by Brooklyn-based graphic artist Jean-Michel Basquiat, a legendary painter who died of acute drug addiction at the age of 27. A painter without a studio who could express his art anywhere, Basquiat was also a close friend and collaborator of Andy Warhol, and was a central figure in the downtown art scene of the 1980s. This book, planned and edited by Taka Kawachi, is a biography focusing on Basquiat, who was one of the key figures in the art boom of the 1980s. The book includes interviews with prestigious gallery owners, such as Bruno Bischofberger, who were associated with Basquiat, as well as a number of his major works. It is a collection of Basquiat's work, which should also be praised for opening the door to non-white artists.
