Girl, a collection of photographs by Japanese photographer Yoshihiro Tachiki. Born the second son of a family running a photo studio in Tokushima Prefecture, Yoshihiro Tachiki grew up in a family of genuine photographers: his mother was a model for NHK's TV series Nacchan no Shashin Kan and his uncle was the founder of Asahi Camera magazine. After graduating from photography school, he worked for art director Seiichi Horiuchi and then joined AdCentre, where he made his mark with fashion, commercial and nude photography. He was a leading post-war photographer in Japan, boasting enormous popularity from the 1960s to the 1970s, including the serialisation of his masterpiece ‘Tongue Out Angel’ in Camera Mainichi and the unprecedented audience turnout for the ‘Girl’ and ‘Eve and Her Friends’ photo exhibitions, and was also renowned for his portrait nudes of big-name actresses such as Mariko Kaga and Momoe Yamaguchi. This book is the second volume of the Contemporary Series of Images published by Chuo Koronsha. It consists of three parts: the aforementioned representative works ‘Tongue-tied Angel’ and ‘Girl’, plus ‘28°26’ north latitude, which was shot on Amami-Oshima Island.
