Dit is een Mambeli zwaard uit de Democratische Republiek Congo.

Het dateert uit de 20e eeuw en werd vervaardigd uit smeedijzer. Het handvat is van hout gemaakt en altijd relatief klein.

Het is een kort zwaard. Deze zwaarden werden meestal gewoon achter de riem geschoven, zonder schede. Exemplaren met schede zijn zeer zeldzaam.

Het Mambeli-kortzwaard diende niet enkel als functioneel zwaard maar ook als symbool van prestige en als betaalmiddel.
