Caperdonich 18yo Peated Small Batch 5th Release

Single malt whiskies from the Caperdonich distillery are rather rare to find. 
Original bottlings from the distillery, which was closed in 2002 and demolished in 2011, are even rarer, as there were virtually no original bottlings. In 2019, the owner of the Caperdonich brand, Chivas Brothers, decided to bottle small batches of the remaining casks in a special series exclusively for travel retail. 
Batch CP/005 was bottled on 22.10.2021.

The Caperdonich 18yo Peated Small Batch Release matured in fresh American oak casks and was bottled after 18 years of storage at 48.0% vol. and without chill filtration.

Nose:
smoky campfire, rich peat, followed by ginger and tart orange
beautifully concise, warming smoke, interwoven with appealing fruit aromas, glowing bonfire, honey, caramel, rose hip tea, cranberries, orange oil, cinnamon, dark chocolate, fine oak spice

Taste:
phenolic peat, flavors of apple and cane sugar
aromatic mirror image of the nose on the palate, nice strong acceleration and a nice oily body, the drinking strength is just right

Finish:
medium length finish, slightly dry, with smoke, espresso and cranberries

A very successful and well-balanced batch with a nice strong smoke, rich fruit aromas and a nice spiciness. The drinking strength is well chosen
