Tignanello is one of Marchesi Antinori's great red wines, created in the 1970s after a long process of winemaking experimentation. The idea behind its creation was to obtain grapes with greater concentration and soft tannins by adjusting plant density and pruning. This resulted in a Sangiovese aged for the first time in barrique, then blended with non-traditional varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. A precursor to the great Tuscan reds known as Super Tuscans, born from the marriage of native and international grape varieties, Tignanello is one of those great wines that has shaped the history of Italian winemaking, becoming a legend.

Tignanello wine comes from the renowned vineyards of the estate, where the 16th-century manor house is located, nestled between the Greve and Pesa valleys, in the heart of Chianti Classico, precisely between the small villages of Montefiridolfi and Santa Maria a Macerata, 30 kilometers south of Florence. This unique expression with a well-defined personality is born from gentle, minimally traumatic pressing of the grapes, alcoholic fermentation in conical stainless steel tanks, and finally, malolactic fermentation in barrique. This is the first Sangiovese to be aged in barrique, the first red blended with non-local varieties, and one of the first red wines in Chianti not to include a blend of white grapes.

Antinori Tignanello is an iconic and symbolic expression of the Italian wine world, with a unique and unparalleled character. It is a riot of sensations, and its enchanting and intense ruby red color makes it the dominant and dominant wine. On the nose, it displays the most complex notes, ranging from tobacco and red fruits, to balsamic and leather notes, combined with elegant hints of vanilla and red roses. On the palate, the tannins support the long, balanced, and fresh finish. An energetic progression! Tignanello has been a symbol of modern Tuscan winemaking, produced only in the finest vintages and capable of building its reputation on longevity for the great tastings of tomorrow.
