Il Dioptasio è anche noto come pietra di Venere.

Il nome deriva dal greco dioptezein, “vedere attraverso”, in quanto nei cristalli trasparenti si possono vedere all’interno le tracce dei piani di sfaldatura. Grazie al suo colore, nell’antichità era noto come “smeraldo ramato” ed era considerato la pietra della ricchezza e dell’abbondanza. Il dioptasio è una pietra estremamente fragile e il colore varia dal verde smeraldo all’azzurro turchese traslucido.
