The Haggadah (Hebrew for "story"), the great book of freedom, tells the story of the exodus of the ancient Jews from Egyptian slavery. One of the most popular works of religious literature in Judaism, it has been used during the Passover meal (seder) for over a thousand years. Jewish artists began illustrating the Haggadah in the Middle Ages, and this living tradition continues to this day. Created and first published during the heyday of Hitler, Haggadah Shik is a triumphant and enduring work of hope and courage, the ultimate expression of the artist's love for his people and his heritage.
