La "Coco de Fesses" o "Coco de Mer" delle Seychelles è una notevole curiosità botanica. Questa palma, scientificamente nota come Lodoicea maldivica, è una delle specie più straordinarie e iconiche al mondo.

Le leggende sul coco de mer sono emerse dopo il 1743, quando furono scoperti i veri alberi di coco de mer. Ed in epoca vittoriana, il generale Charles George Gordon, che visitò le Seychelles nel 1881, credeva che la Vallée de Mai, sull’isola di Praslin, fosse l’originale Giardino dell’Eden come descritto nella Bibbia e che il coco de mer fosse il frutto proibito dell’albero della conoscenza del bene e del male. Ancora oggi il coco del mer è chiamato così “il frutto del Paradiso"
