Robert Doisneau (14 de abril de 1912 – 1 de abril de 1994) fue un fotógrafo francés, uno de los más populares de la posguerra y fue, junto a Willy Ronis, Édouard Boubat, Izis y Émile Savitry, uno de los principales representantes del movimiento fotográfico humanista francés y un pionero del fotoperiodismo.

Fue fotógrafo independiente de la agencia Rapho y vendió sus fotografías a revistas tan diversas como Le Point, Vogue, La Vie ouvrière. Recibió el Premio Kodak en 1947 y el Premio Niepce en 1956. En 1951, una exposición en el MOMA de Nueva York lo consagró a nivel internacional.

Este "cazador furtivo de lo efímero" es famoso por sus fotografías de escolares y de personas que se encuentran en las calles de París, pero estas obras llenas de ligereza y humanismo no deben hacer olvidar el carácter rebelde del fotógrafo, que se esfuerza por traducir a través de imágenes su odio a la guerra, sus preocupaciones por el capitalismo y sus andanzas por los suburbios. 

Uno de los fotógrafos más influyentes del siglo XX junto a otros fotógrafos de su época como: Man Ray, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Ansel Adams, Edward Weston, Robert Capa, Elliott Erwitt, Walter Evans, Philippe Halsman, Diane Arbus, Eve Arnold, Mario Giacomelli, Herb Ritts, Josef Sudek, Robert Mapplethorpe, Richard Avedon, Steve McCurry, entre muchos otros.
