Tête du Christ en pierre polychrome – Europe méridionale, XVIIIᵉ siècle

Sculpture ancienne représentant la tête du Christ, fragment d’un ensemble plus important (probablement un Crucifix monumental ou un relief d’église).
Réalisée en pierre calcaire tendre, elle conserve des traces de polychromie noire sur la barbe et la chevelure.

Le travail, volontairement dépouillé, dégage une forte intensité expressive : le visage allongé, les yeux incisés et la barbe esquissée traduisent la puissance évocatrice de l’art populaire religieux.
Ce type de sculpture, destiné à la piété domestique ou à de petites chapelles rurales, témoigne de la ferveur chrétienne en Europe méridionale (Espagne ou Italie du Sud).

État : usures, manques et polychromie érodée, mais belle patine d’ancienneté
