Karaf van geslepen kristal met massief zilveren voet en montuur (.835) – Nederland, circa 1880

Een klassiek object vol charme uit een vervlogen tijdperk: deze karaf, vervaardigd rond 1880, is een prachtig voorbeeld van 19e-eeuwse gebruiksesthetiek. De combinatie van handgeslepen kristal en een massief zilveren voet en montuur (.835) maakt dit tot een verfijnd object voor de gedekte tafel of vitrinekast.

Het kristal is rijkelijk geslepen in een geometrisch patroon dat de lichtval vangt in subtiele reflecties. De hals is slank en sierlijk, terwijl het lichaam breed en solide is uitgevoerd – een balans tussen elegantie en bruikbaarheid.

Dergelijke karaffen waren in de 19e eeuw gebruikelijk in welgestelde huishoudens, vaak gebruikt voor wijn, port of likeur. Het zilveren montuur diende zowel als versiering als versterking – een teken van kwaliteit en klasse.

Deze karaf verkeert in goede staat, met lichte gebruikssporen die de authenticiteit onderstrepen. Een bijzonder stuk voor verzamelaars van antiek tafelzilver, kristal of liefhebbers van historische interieurdetails.
