late 19th-century bronze relief, signed "Clodion" in the base, is a cast in the manner of Claude Michel (1738–1814), known as Clodion. Rendered in high relief, the panel captures a dynamic Bacchanalian procession, a theme central to classical and neoclassical sculpture. 
At the heart of the scene is Bacchus, the god of wine, overseeing a ritualistic offering of a goat by a group of animated Satyrs and Nymphs. 
The entire composition is animated with lively movement and expressive gestures, from the grape-bearing revelers to the children and animals surrounding the sacrifice.

The quality of the casting is notable, with crisp detailing that brings out the flowing hair, musculature, and drapery of the figures. 
The golden-brown patina enhances the sculptural depth and creates a warm, glowing surface that invites close inspection.

Claude Michel, or Clodion, was a prominent Rococo sculptor who studied under Jean-Baptiste Pigalle and shared a Roman studio with Jean-Antoine Houdon. His work bridged the ornate sensuality of Rococo with the classical revival of the late 18th century. He was also the son-in-law of Augustin Pajou. This relief reflects his fascination with mythological themes and his mastery in rendering the human form.

Comparable in subject matter and spirit to works by Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux, François Rude, Albert-Ernest Carrier-Belleuse, and later Auguste Rodin, this piece is a collector’s object that reflects the 19th-century revival of antique motifs and techniques. The mythological scene also recalls the decorative bronzes by sculptors like Antoine-Louis Barye, James Pradier, and Ferdinand Barbedienne, who often translated classical themes into accessible yet finely crafted bronzes.
