A vibrant and artistic Swatch Gent from 1996, celebrating the Olympic Centennial year that marked 100 years since the first modern Olympic Games in Athens 1896. The "Palco" represents Swatch's celebration of music and performance during this historic milestone year culminating in the Atlanta Summer Games.

Design Features:

The "Palco" name refers to a theatrical stage box, and the watch celebrates music and performance with a distinctive musical staff motif that flows across the dial edge and continues onto the strap. The white central dial features purple numerals and elegant golden hands, creating a striking contrast against the colorful background.

The yellow and blue color scheme echoes the vibrant energy of the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games, while the musical notation reflects the artistic celebration that characterized the Centennial Olympic ceremonies. The transparent case reveals glimpses of the Swiss quartz movement within, while the teal blue caseback adds another layer of color to this playful design.

The polymer strap features the same musical staff pattern that appears on the dial, creating a unified design that wraps around the wrist. This integration of dial and strap design was characteristic of mid-1990s Swatch creativity during their Olympic special editions period.

1996 Olympic Context:

1996 marked the Centennial celebration of the modern Olympic Games, commemorating the 100th anniversary of the first modern Olympics held in Athens in 1896. The Atlanta Summer Olympics hosted this historic milestone, bringing together athletes from around the world for what was called the "Centennial Olympic Games." The opening ceremony was one of the most spectacular in Olympic history, celebrating both Olympic heritage and American culture.

Swatch was an official partner and timekeeper for the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, producing numerous special editions including the famous Olympic Legends collection honoring ten greatest Olympic champions. The "Palco" with its musical theme perfectly captures the celebratory spirit of the Centennial Games.

Original Packaging:

Comes in original transparent Swatch presentation case with instruction manual. The clear case displays the watch beautifully while protecting it from dust and damage. Original warranty paperwork and documentation included.

Condition:

Excellent vintage condition with original packaging intact. Case remains clear with minimal signs of age. Dial is pristine with vibrant colors. Strap shows good preservation though, despite some yellowing. As with all vintage polymer straps approaching 30 years old, brittleness may develop over time.

IMPORTANT: Watch sold as collectible item. Untested and without battery installed. Due to the age of vintage polymer straps, wearing may cause cracking or breaking. Display purposes recommended. Bidder assumes all risk if choosing to wear.
