De schilder staat vermeld in het naslagwerk “De Belgische beeldende kunstenaars van de 19de tot 21ste eeuw “ van Paul Piron.
Bernard Bosschaert is een Belgische kunstschilder, geboren in Wervik in 1933.  Hij is een figuratief schilder en is grotendeels autodidact.  Hij startte met schilderen op 15-jarige leeftijd.  Zijn onderwerpen zijn (Vlaamse) landschappen, bosgezichten, landschappelijke ervaringen en emoties, marines en Brugse stadsgezichten.  Hij hanteert een impressionistische toets.  Hij is lid van de West-Vlaamse Kunstkring.  Sinds 1960 stelde hij elk jaar in augustus tentoon in zaal Horizon in Heist en vanaf 1991, jaarlijks in maart in de galerie Henriette Coffez in Knokke.  Gedurende het voorjaar is Bosschaert de graag geziene gast in ‘t Hof te Puttens in Lede bij Aalst, waar hij regelmatig uitpakt met zijn recentste oeuvre.
