Hermès - Cape Cod Grandes Heures - CD6.810 - Men - 2010-2020

The Cape Cod is Hermès’ most iconic modern design, first sketched in 1991 with its “square inside a rectangle” case shape and signature anchor-chain lugs. The Grandes Heures takes that familiar form and adds almost whimsical complications: time that doesn’t flow evenly. Instead of advancing at a steady rate, the hour hand speeds up through some sections of the dial and lingers longer in others, stretching and compressing time in a way that’s completely unique. The result is less about precision and more about the experience of time. The system developed by Vaucher is based on the caliber H1928 and uses oval wheels to rush or slow the hour hand, while minutes and seconds run at a steady pace. From what I’ve read, it seems buyers could customize which hours they’d like to run faster or slower. This reference comes in a stainless steel case with a silver dial, Arabic numerals, and large Cape Cod proportions that still wear comfortably across wrist sizes. Playful, design-driven, and distinctly Hermès, a watch for collectors who appreciate horology with a sense of artistry. Condition: Very good. Some markings on the case and caseback. The movement and its functions work flawlessly, although I don’t know its service history. The stingray strap and buckle are aftermarket. Please see the pictures for full condition and clarity. Case Size: 36.5mm x 49.3mm stainless steel case with a thickness of 12mm and a lug width of 23mm. Crystal: Sapphire Movement: Automatic movement made by Vaucher, based on the caliber H1928. It has a unique complication that changes the speed of the hour hand. Service history is unknown, but all functions work perfectly. - Aftermarket stingray strap and buckle.
