Description from the seller
Amplifier in perfect working condition, with some signs of use due to age.
It is the intermediate model of the HK line of solid-state integrated amplifiers.
Just as the top-of-the-line HK6500 offers a range of features, including loudness correction, a subsonic filter, and mono/stereo mode selection. There is also a third line input (monitor tape), designed to accommodate an external surround processor or even a graphics card! This, in addition to the usual treble, bass, and balance controls.
There are other inputs for tape, video, CD, tuner, and turntable. And, just like the HK6500, this amplifier also supports MC turntable cartridges, in addition to the standard MM ones.
The interior construction is faithful to Hong Kong's tradition, therefore of high reliability and resistance.
In terms of sound quality, it is worth highlighting the high musicality and energy, solid and dynamic bass, and a good overall sound balance. It is not a studio amplifier that reveals details and flaws that might go unnoticed during a relaxed listening session. It is restrained in the treble and offers a good compromise in the midrange. Clearly, it favors long listening sessions, providing an immersive and pleasant sound.
I tested it with different speakers: AR-12, B&W DM100i, Infinity Reference 50, Sony SS-5200. In all of these, the adaptation was perfect. The characteristic sound was present, and none of the speaker models lacked the necessary power to perform at their best.
Finally, the response frequency is truly astonishing!
