LE DEPART DU CANOT, Ca. 1925-1930. Original aquatint etching (gravure au noir de fumée) lampblack engraving. Hand signed and numbered 4/30. A perfect impression in this rare technique. Printed on vellum paper, hand signed and justified. From a limited edition of only 30 impressions (4/30). Sheet 28,50 by 38,50 cm. This is not only a magnificent work of art but also a very rare work!

RAPHAËL DROUART (1884 - 1972) Painter, sculptor, printmaker. Raphaël Drouart took up printmaking after WWI, mastered every technique, and introduced many innovations of his own. Drouart was born in Choisy-le-Roi (Val de Marne), and studied under Fernand Cormon and Maurice Denis. He exhibited at the Salon de Paris from 1919. See: J. R.
