An Early Russian Orthodox icon. Russian Empire,early 19th century. Rare example of very good quality quality and particularly old icon!

Finely painted on wood, classical Orthodox scene depicting three Saints. Inscription above figures partially illegible, most probably depicting Akilina Biblovskaya (Finikiyskaya), Metropolitan Peter and Nicholas the Wonderworker (Russian: Акилина Библосская, Финикийская, митрополит Петр и Николай Чудотворец). Partially damaged old label with hand written Russian inscription on the back. 

Provenance: private collection, Lyon, France. 

Conditions report: good condition considering the age and materials. Wood with natural patina, some cracks caused by drying in time, in lower part some wood missing with old filling. Wear to the painted layer, particularly on edges, which were probably covered by frame for a long time, some nails preserved there. Check pictures for details.
