Cornelis Brouwer (1733-1803) created the etching titled 'Jan van der Meer - Landscape with castle' (crayon-manner) of a seascape, dated 1784 in the Netherlands, plate signed, 18.3 × 28.6 cm, in excellent condition.

Description:
Landscape with a shepherd driving his herd along a lake in foreground, trees and a castle beyond. From a series of etchings published in separate sets between 1765-1787). 1784. Crayon-manner in Ploos van Amstel's technique. Signed bottom left in the plate J v der meer de jonge f 1704. Verso: Coat of arms of Ploos van Amstel. Print made by Cornelis Ploos van Amstel (project director), etched by: Cornelis Brouwer (1733-1803). On the backside the coat of arms of Ploos van Amstel (Lugt. 2034)

The 'Ectypa' of Ploos van Amstel, since that was the Latin term Ploos van Amstel used to describe his plates on the first title-page. A series of print drawings of Dutch and Flemish artists. They were published by Ploos van Amstel in separate small sets between 1765 and 1787. Ploos van Amstel hired several printmakers to assist him in the production of the plates, this one is not in the British museum. Most of the plates were also available separately. They usually have Ploos van Amstel's coat of arms printed on the verso as proof of authenticity.
