Pierre Aveline the Elder (1656-1722) - St. Pierre du Vatican a Rome

Beautiful hand-colored antique view of Piazza San Pietro with the colonnade and the city of Rome around it, engraved by Pierre Aveline 'the Elder' and here in the edition of Charpentier, who took over from the family of publishers Jean after 1770.
Example cut to size, on rough paper, in good condition after restoration, with tears and abrasions repaired and an editorial fold; on the reverse, light widespread foxing (see photo).
Below the image, title and caption, on the right: 'Made by Aveline, in Paris at Cha[r]pentier, rue S. Jacques au Coq.'
