Description from the seller
Peter Smith (1941), Cushion, 2018.
Polished steel, 22.3 x 22.8 x 8 cm. Artist Proof outside the edition of 10.
Condition: light scratches on both sides of the surface. At the bottom, separation of the weld seam. This is not a defect, but not part of the planned edition. Therefore there is no minimum price. Please view the photos. They form part of the condition description.
The object is not particularly significant, but with a certain certificate it bears a signature and a number.
The "Cushion" derives from a series of variously colored sculptures with the chosen theme and is shown in the Berlin art edition, published.
Peter Smith, born in 1941 in the United States, saw the most notable sculptors of his generation. From an early age he grew up in a family in southern Germany, where the passion for art and devotion to sculpture were discovered.
After studying at the renowned Academy of Fine Arts in Munich, Smith developed his own artistic style, a traditional technique with modern elemental elements. His works, often in ceramic, wood, or metal, reflect a deep engagement with the profane of everyday life.
In the course of his career, Peter Smith has been invited to present his work in international exhibitions from Paris to New York. He is today living and working as an 84-year-old in his self-styled "Workshop" in southern Germany.
