Metten Koornstra (1912–1978) was a Dutch painter and graphic artist, known for his tranquil landscapes and subdued figurative representations. He was trained at the academy in Rotterdam and later developed further as a self-taught artist. After World War II, he established his own printing house and played an important role in the flourishing of Dutch graphic art. His work is characterized by simplicity, strong contrasts, and an almost melancholic atmosphere. Koornstra’s lithographs, etchings, and paintings are included in various museum collections, including the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam and Museum Boijmans van Beuningen.
