Thomas Sidney Cooper RA (1803–1902) – 'Cattle, Evening'
Oil painting on panel – Back side equipped with gallery label.
Beautiful 19th-century painting by Thomas Sidney Cooper, the renowned English painter known for his realistic depictions of cattle in landscapes. This work, titled 'Cattle, Evening,' depicts a herd of red and white spotted cows peacefully grazing and resting in the evening light, with a wide view of the hills and a flock of sheep in the background.
Refined brushwork and warm, natural colors are characteristic of Cooper, who was regarded as the leading animal painter of England in his time and regularly exhibited at the Royal Academy.
On the back, there is a label from William Rodman & Co., Belfast, a well-known art dealer from the 19th century, as well as a seal and a gallery label from Rodman’s Art Gallery.

Dimensions with frame: 39 x 49 cm
Condition:
