Description from the seller

Joan Miró (1893–1983)

Flux de l’aimant, 1964

Original drypoint on Rives vellum paper, hand-signed in pencil by the artist and numbered 42/75.
This work forms part of the celebrated series Flux de l’aimant, published in 1964 by the distinguished Maeght Éditeur in Paris, accompanied by a poetic text by René Char—Miró’s close friend and one of the most influential French poets of the 20th century.

The collaboration between these two masters unites Miró’s visual rhythm with Char’s poetic intensity, creating a dialogue between image and word that epitomizes the avant-garde spirit of the postwar era.

The edition was strictly limited to only 75 numbered impressions, plus 20 Hors Commerce copies reserved for collaborators and friends. This impression, numbered 42/75, is therefore part of the scarce and highly sought-after public edition.

References: Dupin 370–386; Cramer 88.

Only 75 impressions of this series exist, making this an exceptionally rare original from 1964. The work is preserved in good condition, remarkable given its age, and is presented in a vintage gold-leaf frame with glass, measuring 54 × 64.5 cm overall.
