Peter van Lisebetten (1630-1678) - Caino che uccide Abele

Original etching by the Dutch engraver Peter van Lisebetten (1630-1678), depicting the killing of Abel by Cain. The subject is taken from Palma il Giovane, and the print is part of the series that made up the Theatrum Pictorium, a book published in 1660 by David Teniers the Younger, commissioned by Archduke Leopold Guglielmo of Austria. It is a catalog of engravings, derived from 243 paintings by Italian and Flemish artists, selected from approximately 1,300 paintings belonging to the archduke's collection.
The print is in excellent condition and framed with a passe-partout in a large professional frame, measuring approximately 42x54 cm.
