Landschap, an oil painting on canvas by the Hollandse School (XIX–XX) from 1930–1940, signed by M.A. Koekkoek, originating from the Netherlands, sold with frame.
Description from the seller
The painting is signed M.A. Koekkoek, but cannot be attributed to the 19th-century landscape painter in style.
This painting depicts a rustic, idyllic landscape where an old farmstead is nestled among tall, warmly colored trees. The soft light of late afternoon or early evening gently bathes the grass and the house's facade, subtly highlighting details in the stones, the thatched roof, and the foliage. On the right side of the image, a narrow path leads to an open view over a vast valley, where the light colors the horizon in shades of pink and blue.
In the foreground, near a small watercourse, stand three figures: two adults and a child, possibly travelers or farmers who have stopped to overlook the landscape. Their presence gives the painting a human scale and a narrative charge.
The list has a few damages.
Dimensions with frame: 48 x 59 cm
Dimensions without a frame: 30 x 42 cm
The work is available for viewing at our gallery. Furthermore, Art Dumay has a framing shop (celebrating their 85th anniversary this year) and a restoration studio. If you wish to make use of these services, we would be happy to hear from you.
